Description
In this low pressure 3-hour beginner lesson, you’ll dip your toes into the basics of wheel throwing and learn how to turn a ball of clay into your own functional pottery piece. You’ll be guided through centering your clay, pulling up the walls, and shaping your form, with support throughout the session.
Don’t worry about having experience - beginners will get enough support to have at least one completed piece. Go for a Spin is perfect even if you have some experience. It’s a great way to get reacquainted with the wheel and get a feel for the studio space.
At the end of the session, you’ll choose up to two of your pieces for Pottery Peace to trim, glaze, and fire for you. You choose your glaze colors, and your finished work will be ready to pick up around a month after your session.
WHAT TO WEAR
Pottery will inevitably be messy, so wear comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting clay on. Clay washes out easily. You’re invited to bring an apron if you have one, or you can proudly wear some of your clay out into public after your session. Everyone might be impressed now that you’re an artist.
