Description

Guided Pottery is a 7-week course for people who already have some experience working with clay and want time, space, and support to develop their own projects. Rather than following set lessons, this course offers structured studio access with support on hand to guide you when you need it.

Experience Level

This course is designed for improvers - people who have some experience making and glazing pottery (at least one Beginners Class) but don’t feel ready to work completely independently. It’s not suitable for complete beginners or advanced ceramicists seeking specialist instruction.

What You’ll Make

You’ll bring your own ideas and work at your own pace - whether that’s refining throwing or hand building skills, troubleshooting forms, or improving glazing results. Teaching is responsive and led by your questions, not a fixed curriculum.

Studio & Format

This class is limited to 6 students, allowing space to work on pieces and dividing time on the wheels equally among students. Each session lasts 3 1/2 hours, including clean-up.

Attendance

If you are unable to attend a session, you may book one make-up session during the course. This is subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed, as spaces are limited. We recommend attending all sessions where possible to get the most from the course and to ensure enough time to complete your work.

Finished Work

Student work will be bisque fired throughout the course and glaze fired at the end. Your course includes up to 8 pounds of finished fired work. Additional firing is charged at $5 per pound.

What to Wear

Pottery will inevitably be messy, so wear comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting clay on. Clay washes out easily. You’re invited to bring an apron if you have one, or you can proudly wear some of your clay out into public after your session. Everyone might be impressed now that you’re officially an artist.

PLEASE NOTE: Participants must be 18 or over.

Cancellation Policy

You may cancel this course up to 2 weeks before the start date for a full refund. If you cancel between 7 and 14 days before the start date, you'll be entitled to a 50% refund. No refund can be given if within 7 days of the start date. Please contact us as soon as possible if you need to cancel.

In the case of extenuating circumstances, we may be able to defer your course.
